Newport

A few weeks ago we went on a fabulous trip to Newport Beach with my whole family.
It was a jam packed week of Disneyland, deep sea fishing, an Angels' game, lost of yummy food,
shopping, and of course the beach...my personal favorite! It was fun to all be together and
to see how darling Caroline's cousins are to her. They always wanted to hold her and
help feed her and push her stroller. We are so lucky to know those four adorable little boys! Caroline had a wonderful time and loved letting the waves hit her legs.

The camping attempt...

This short getaway left kind of a bitter taste in my mouth to be honest. I don't mean to be so negative, but now that we laugh so hard looking back on it, I must share the events from our first time camping with Caroline. About a month ago, we went up to Strawberry Reservoir with the Beckstrom clan which we were so excited about. Caroline's darling cousins were there and Adam and Grandpa were so excited to take them fishing on the boat. We got there and it was perfect weather and really pretty. We loaded the kids on the boat with Adam, Uncle Jon, and I. We pushed off of the shore and the boat died, with four little ones in it. They were very patient though and it didn't take too long to get off the water. Caroline also was sick and little did Adam and I know, but we were coming down with strep for our first time ever. Adam had chills the enitre evening. We all felt terrible. There was a precious moment by the fire when Caroline was comfortable enough to fall asleep, but when it came time to get into the tent, it was not going to fly. So we thought at midnight we would leave...hooray! I went to get the keys, however, and I had lost them. I was upset with myself, but luckily prayers were answered!! We made it home to our beds and began recovery. We think trying out camping in the backyard first sounds nice!

Hooray for vacation!

So the only thing that Andrea seems to love more than "feeling like we are out of town" is actually being out of town. We have been very lucky over the past couple of weeks to be out of town almost as much as we have been in town. With all of the holidays and celebration including several birthdays the whole month of July has felt like one extended vacation. I am sure that Andrea will write more details about all of our adventures with pictures of the highlights, but I just wanted to say how much I love having a wife that schedules fun into our lives. As she can attest, getting me to agree to a trip or even make plans for Friday night can be worse than pulling teeth. I always end up thoroughly enjoying myself and remembering our trips as some of my favorite memories.

Now this is summer!

I know this is the most random picture, but I absolutely love it because it exemplifies summer! This is on the 4th of July and we were lighting fireworks and lying on the cement just enjoying the perfect night. Luckily Adam appreciates these same moments because he's the one that captured it! The 4th of July is my favorite holiday because it's SUMMER, there are bbq's, fireworks, boating...it's just the greatest.

The Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay

Last weekend was so much fun! Adam, Erika, Clark, and I did the 180 mile Ragnar Relay from Logan to Park City. We were on a team of 12 people and we all ran three different legs of the race of varying lengths and difficulty. We started Friday afternoon and finished Saturday evening. You run through the night and throw your sleeping bag anywhere you can to try to catch a couple hours of sleep. It was such a beautiful race covering six lakes, streams, ski resorts, and canyons. Although we can barely walk today...we can't wait to do it next year!

Caroline's 1st Birthday!

Last Sunday was bittersweet. Our sweet baby Caroline turned 1! The year has gone by faster than we could have ever imagined, and nothing has ever brought us more joy than our darling baby. Her party was a blast, from her dunking her face in the cake, to watching everyone take swings at the pinata.
